Esmeralda's Music Lessons (FF)

Copyright - Jan W. Fields
FF - Friday Fictioneers

It broke Uncle Sanyo's heart to see the old family spinet sitting idle in the corner of his brother Igor's flat.  Igor had no money to provide music lessons for his daughter Esmeralda.

Though not wealthy himself, Uncle Sanyo swore he would see to it that Esmeralda had regular music lessons and learned to play for Igor.

Years later Uncle Sanyo returned for a visit with Igor, now aged and frail. Meanwhile Esmeralda had grown into a lovely young woman of 18.

"Please, Esmeralda,” said Sanyo, “favor us with some music.”

Esmeralda sat at the keyboard and played Dancing Queen by ABBA. Sanyo watched Igor desperately trying to cover his ears.

Sanyo’s revenge over his hated brother was complete.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't know what had transpired between the brothers to cause Sanyo to commit such a heinous act upon Igor, but I do know one thing:  whatever young man might think one day of marrying Esmeralda better think again for the safety of his sanity and ear drums.
On the other hand, you certainly need not think again if you want to check out the offerings of the other Friday Fictioneers in response to the picture prompt above. Just tickle the ivories by clicking here
Want to hear something else by Esmeralda?  No?  Relax, it's Chopin's Polonaise Opus 53Esmeralda's music lessons weren't a total waste.
Damn that Sanyo, and his other brother, Sony, too. I'm sure poor Igor would have preferred to hear fingernails clawing a chalkboard as opposed to the strains of ABBA defiling a piano.
If I were Igor, I'd get him back by piping a loop recording of Dueling Banjos into Sanyos bedroom.
i guess uncle sanyo got his money's worth even if esmeralda never learned to play the piano well. :)
Dear Perry,
Whatever happened must have been terrible to have caused Sanyo to seek such brutal revenge on Igor. You had me for a bit. I feared it was going to be something sweet and sentimental this week. You've restored my lack of faith in you. Thank you.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Dancing Queen destroyed their lives. That means Esmeralda practiced it over and over. These are desperate times. Very original tale, Perry.
Igor met his Waterloo, I think. I'll get my coat. :( Thanks for commenting on mine Perry, (three times, no less).
What have you got against ABBA?
Hehe. You have to know your enemy to plot a proper revenge, and it looks like Sanyo knew this very well. They all should go to the movies and watch Mamma Mia. --gahlearner
Ha.. It could have been a lot worse.. If Esmeralda had learned to play "living next door to Alice" I'm sure that Igor would have carved away his ears,
Oh I love it! Well done!
We went with similar themes this week. Good one and nice ending :)
Yes, and I'm afraid Sony is an even worse witch than the other one. But Igor has gotten Sanyo back by playing movies in which Sarah Jessica Parker is supposed to be attractive. That has shocked him into another dimension.
Perry Block said...
Actually the lousier she did the more he got his money's worth. And if she's playing ABBA, she did pretty lousy!
Perry Block said...
I'm touched that you continue to have no faith in me whatsoever. I'll do my best to always disappoint you!
Perry Block said...
Thanks, Amy. But Dancing Queen has destroyed all our lives. Only those on other planets are safe.
Perry Block said...
It never showed once, so I kept putting it in again. Okay, well, it was brilliant enough that reading it three times was well worth anyone's while.
Perry Block said...
Umm ... they suck? They're just not for me.
Perry Block said...
Yes, they can watch Meryl Streep sing that horrible song and trash her career. Mamma Mia!
Perry Block said...
I don't know that one, but hard to believe it's worse. And anyway his ears are already well carved away.
Perry Block said...
Thank you, Jim. Here's to hating ABBA!
Perry Block said...
We sure did. Always sucker them by acting nice, then WHAM! Not that you or I would ever do this, just our characters.
Sometimes revenge is so very sweet!
Perry Block said...
Yes, but if you're going to use ABBA, that's just a little too cruel.
It serves Igor right - why didn't he pay for Esmeralda's lessons? Then he could have called the shots. Funny story.
Perry Block said...
Well, he couldn't afford the lessons. But if he suspected what Uncle Sanyo was up to, he should have worked three jobs to avoid the consequences!
So mean!
Poor Igor and poor ABBA. Igor may have deserved it, but you guys have just ganged up on ABBA. Believe me, remembering back to the band at my old high school in the 50's, I've heard worse, lots worse. Of course, thinking what they paid the county teachers in those days, it was no doubt also revenge in that case. :) --- Suzanne
Oh my, I used to hate ABBA. I don't know what happened, but I can tolerate their music now. Guess it is true we are getting softer with age. Still...poor Igor.
Perry Block said...
But perhaps it was warranted? No, nothing could warrant that!
Perry Block said...
I'm sure the teachers did the best they could. And I'm sure the high school band didn't have goofy blond haircuts and sing songs with lyrics like "you can dance, you're an ass .." If only we could get revenge on ABBA!
Don't weaken! I have a fix for that. Watch that scene from the movie where Meryl Steep sings Dancing Queen and then jumps in the ocean. How could the premier actress of our generation abuse, humiliate, and debase her talent in that manner? Why didn't she just stay under the water after that?
Feeling the dark side return?
